So. Haven't posted in 2 years because I'm lame.

The recent furor, though (isn't there always a recent furor ;D) has had me thinking again about how much I appreciate the existence of dreamwidth and the other fen-for-fen projects that sprung up around the same time. I haven't been as involved in fandom over the past couple of years as I have in the past, and I've only just recently started posting fic again after a 2 year hiatus. Fandom means an awful lot to me, though, and it's been great popping in occasionally over the past 2 years to see dreamwidth and AO3 flourishing. Even though I haven't been part of either project (and massive kudos to those brilliant people who *have* done all the work), it makes me proud to be part of fandom.

So, in short, I don't post much anywhere except AO3 at the moment because I'm trying to finish my thesis, but I am going to make more of an effort to come over properly to dreamwidth XD

'Bout time I posted, no? It's the time of year, busy busy.

Been writing a lot the last week or two, a bit of fic, some very average poetry, mostly original fiction. Started what was going to be a (long) short story, but given the length of my stories it'll probably be more like a short/mid-length novel. Fun, anyhow. I love writing original fiction when I'm up to it. Other than that been writing on loads of my old stories, wrote another 10 000 words or so of my great old labouring epic that I'll finish eventually XD Great storm last night, and that always helps. It's good, anyhow :) Wrote some depressing Torchwood fic as well, I'll have to post it once exams are over.

Other than that it's all assignments at the moment. One due tomorrow, one the next day, one next Thursday, then final exam on 11/11. Can't wait for it to be over so I can go buy my dressmaker's dummy and get to work properly on next year's costumes! I'll be able to get back on seriously writing some fic then as well, and hopefully get the next chapters of some of my WIPs out without too much more excessive delay XD You guys all know me by now anyway, I'm not good at scheduling :P

Hope everyone's well, anyway. I've really missed hanging out with people the last...god, 6 months really...hopefully we'll all have a little more time come summer/UK and US people's winter. Everyone better be taking good care of themselves :)

A few links :) One event, one awesome band :)

1. October 11, 2009 is looking like being a big day (and not just 'cause it's the day before my birthday :P). Most of you have probably seen by now the White House's *thrilling* (yes, that was sarcasm :P) defense of the DOMA, the HRC's response, etc. And as Pride month all over the world gets bogged down in this and this year's steps forward get eclipsed by steps back, it's good to have a date to look forward to for big, loud inspiration (which is not to say there aren't lots of important grassroots events and efforts and fights going on, but loud is good too). Lots of places still have awesome Pride events coming up, but for those who don't and live close enough to get to DC, the march on Washington is shaping up to be pretty insane. It's National Coming Out Day in the US, it'll be the 30th anniversary of the first LGBT march on Washington, and I really hope everyone who can get there does. I'm looking forward to watching from here. Hope no one's letting the DOMA stuff get them down. All evil passes if we keep fighting.

2. Go listen to this awesome band, Brissie boys Vasy Mollo. They've only got a couple of tracks up, but they're great, they're nice boys, and their very talented singer is a friend of my brother's ;) Really good band, looking forward to seeing them live as soon as they stop playing dates I'm busy :P I'm told they put on a good show. First - Irishfic is amazing. Or it's going to be :D I really think so. It's a way off yet, but...it should be awesome. Slowly encroaching on every corner of my brain :P behindthec and I are having so much fun XD

Second - AI people, where is all the post-Rolling Stone fic? :( I've seen *1*, lol. Am I missing it all? Seriously, if someone doesn't write a substantial one soon I'm going to cave and start writing AI, and that would *actually* be the apocalypse :P It is a travesty that we do not have mountains of fic with canon made of this much win :P

Third - 8 days to go! Last assignment is due Monday (oh god *buries self in books*), then last exam is next Friday...hm, which I haven't got off work yet *sigh* So ready for finals to be over. Wish me luck, lol... :S

Guh, seriously sucks that Adam didn't win. But nm. We'll all buy his album the second it appears, y/y? And while the religious right may have won out this time, it's still awesome that we got a brilliant, shameless, flamboyantly gay (and hot as all get out), superstar all the way to finals so the world could see him shine and see that there's no reason a quiet, conservative religious guy and a sexy, out there, cross-dressing gay idol can't be best mates if we put aside all the crap. They sure put on a good show :) The result may have been patently unjust, but it happens. I hope all the online drama dies down soon so we can all just enjoy the music these boys make for us :)

And this is in no way prevented by my no longer being a teen ;D

1. American Idol :P Final 2 in...3 hours! :D Sadly, Australian TV helpfully does not show Idol until 9.5 hours later. This normally does not bother me, because ficdom bloggers can generally be relied on to post everything within 2 minutes of the show being over ;D But...but...I want to watch Adam win tomorrow (because he *is* going to win :P) *with* everyone else, damnit! :P I don't *want* to watch it on youtube after *fangirl whine* Yeah, it's like 7am and I'm sleepy and I feel like complaining :P Adam-related squee, though! Go-ing to wi-in...*has faith in the texting powers of slashdom fangirls* :D :D :D

2. Merlin. So, I *finally* managed to get hold of and watch the whole series (yeah, it's only taken me six months, I know XD). Not posting spoilers, I know most of the Americans still haven't jumped on the bandwagon, but...Mother Fuckers. Gods I *hate* end of series cliffhangers :P But. That Aside. *MELTS* Gods I love this series so much. I loved it before I'd watched a frame just from the fic and the hype, I thought I couldn't love it any more after the first ep, I thought I *definitely* couldn't love it anymore after ep 4, and...*happy sigh of eternal love and devotion* You can pretty much guarantee I will sell my eternal soul to any series with the line "like I'd let you" in that context (if you've watched it, you know...if you've watched DGM or any of my other fav shows with this line you also know, but hey :P), but, just...guuuuuuuh. SO much love. I could flail for *years*. If I didn't *seriously* love bandom, I would be dropping everything to write for this series (though honestly, I don't think I'll be writing much for it until it's actually wound up. I don't usually write serious fic for in progress series). I've written a bit of ep reflective fic already, some of which I might post if I can be bothered, but this is mainly just to say: ***If you have not watched Merlin, go, watch, flail, immediately*** :D Favourite episodes...4 and 11, with 13 and 10 as close seconds. SO much love.

3. Me, potentially slashy photoshoots, podfic and the like :P - big history paper due tomorrow, won't be around much today or tomorrow. Photoshooting Saya and Hagi again on the weekend, so should have some awesome photos next week. Cutting all my hair off Monday, which is kinda sad, took a bunch of photos the other day so you don't all think I always look like a slightly odd vampire queen ;D so shall try to post those before I lose all the hair anyway, lol :P Then photoshooting Lulu and Suzaku in uniform next weekend; hopefully an abundance of slashy photos week after :D Have been working on a podfic of Colin's pwf in between things - the prologue of that will be finished some time in the next month or so. All my assessment's over June 19, after which I will probably spend a week celebrating/sleeping, but I should be around and writing a lot more after that. Also sewing. A lot. But that's a given ;D
